Stade Rennais FC could part ways with Sebastian Szymanski as early as the next winter transfer window. The Polish midfielder, signed from Fenerbahçe for €10m in January 2026, could be sold for a fee of at least €15m.

The 27-year-old, under contract until June 2029, has had a mixed start to the season under manager Franck Haise. He has made six appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist in Ligue 1. However, Szymanski did not start Stade Rennais' last two away matches at Marseille and Lyon, where the team suffered heavy defeats (1-0 and 4-0).

Napoli's Interest

This situation has attracted attention from Napoli, who are looking to strengthen their squad in January. The Italian club is targeting at least three signings and has identified the Pole as a target. Loïc Désiré, speaking about the profile sought when Szymanski arrived, said: "We were looking for a new player who has the ability to make the difference in the final 30 metres." A sale for fifteen million would represent a five-million-euro profit for the Breton club's finances.

The immediate sporting context could influence this decision. Stade Rennais is going through a tough patch with just one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five matches. The team, which fell 1-0 at Laval on October 2nd, must quickly bounce back before hosting Auxerre on October 11th.

With ambitions in Ligue 1, the Europa League and the Coupe de France, the staff will have to assess whether Szymanski's departure serves the sporting interests. The January 2027 transfer window, which opens in a few months, will be decisive for the player's future at the club.
