Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal has not yet signed a contract extension with Stade Rennais. Negotiations that began in the summer are still ongoing without an agreement, casting uncertainty over the future of the young defender.

The 20-year-old is under contract with the Breton club until June 2028. This gives him time, but Stade Rennais has clearly expressed its desire to keep him long-term. Last summer, the club even turned down two offers from Fulham, one rising to €35 million, demanding €40 million to consider a sale.

A Mixed Season

On the pitch, Aït Boudlal's season has been challenging. He has lost his undisputed starting spot and was on the bench for Stade Rennais FC's last win, a 4-1 victory over Auxerre on October 11. That match ended a run of three consecutive defeats for the team, which has recorded four losses and one draw in its last five outings. Manager Franck Haise publicly highlighted some of the player's defensive errors. "Auteur de plusieurs erreurs défensives, le joueur de 20 ans a notamment été recadré par Franck Haise en conférence de presse," he said in September.

This sporting questioning could influence the contract talks, although no direct link has been officially made. To regain a lasting place in Haise's plans, Aït Boudlal needs to find consistency. The coaching staff has high expectations for him.

The coming weeks will be decisive in clarifying the situation. In the meantime, Stade Rennais focuses on its next fixture, at home against OFI on Thursday, October 15. The squad list is available on the squad page.

The market value of the Moroccan international defender is currently estimated at €20 million. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri confirmed the lack of an agreement this Wednesday. "Selon les informations révélées ce mercredi par Sacha Tavolieri pour Sky Sport, aucun terrain d’entente n’aurait encore été trouvé entre les différentes parties," he stated. The matter therefore remains open.
