Stade Rennais FC is dedicating its next Ligue 1 match to the fight against breast cancer. The club announced a partnership with the Établissement Rennais du Sein on Friday, October 23, for the fixture against Strasbourg on Sunday, October 25 at 5:15 PM at Roazhon Park. This key fixture comes as the team is in a difficult league position and has failed to win any of its last five matches, with one draw and four defeats.

The initiative will see the players wear symbolic pink jerseys for this eighth matchday of the season. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the association, which supports women affected by the disease from diagnosis through post-treatment care. An awareness stand will also be set up in the FanZone.

“We are delighted to be able to use this visibility to make the ERS known and raise awareness about breast cancer prevention among as many people as possible,” said Myriam Bucas, a representative of the Établissement Rennais du Sein. Based at the Hôpital Privé Rennais Saint-Grégoire, the ERS has six senology surgeons and a professional support team. It funds care not covered by insurance and runs SEIN'FORMER workshops in schools and businesses.

This campaign comes during a tough sporting period for Stade Rennais FC. The team, which faces Strasbourg this weekend, has failed to win any of its last five matches, with one draw and four defeats. The most recent result was a 2-2 draw away to Juventus on Wednesday, with goals from Mousa Al-Tamari and Boulaye Dia. That October 22nd match saw Stade Rennais FC take the lead before conceding an equaliser from a penalty. This poor run began with a 1-0 loss at Laval on October 2, following a 4-0 defeat at Lyon on September 19. It also includes a dramatic 4-3 loss at Paris FC on October 18, despite a penalty hat-trick from Esteban Lepaul.

The club had already organised a Solidarity Karaoke on October 9, which gathered 135 participants. It will also host the 3rd Breizh Health Congress for Women on April 15, 2027. For the ERS, the goal is clear: in 2026, no woman should be denied support for financial reasons.

On the pitch, the absence of the season's top scorer, Esteban Lepaul, who is sidelined, will be a significant blow. The striker, currently unavailable, has already netted seven goals in seven appearances. The team must rediscover winning ways, starting this Sunday against Strasbourg, in a Roazhon Park united for a cause bigger than football. The home game against Strasbourg on October 25 represents a major opportunity to end this losing streak.
