The Ligue 1 fixture between OGC Nice and Stade Rennais FC has been brought forward by one day. Originally scheduled for Saturday 31 October at 5:15pm, the match will now be played on Friday 30 October at 7pm at the Allianz Riviera.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel confirmed the schedule change. "At the request of the Préfecture des Alpes-Maritimes, the OGC Nice, Stade Rennais FC match, for the 9th matchday of Ligue 1 McDonald’s and initially scheduled for Saturday 31 October at 17:15, is brought forward to Friday 30 October at 19:00 on Ligue 1+", the league said in a statement.
This shift alters the travel plans for Stade Rennais FC supporters and the team's preparation rhythm. Stade Rennais FC, currently top of the table with 16 points, will now face tenth-placed Nice (11 points) to open the weekend. This away trip comes during a difficult run for the Reds and Blacks, who have recorded four losses and one draw in their last five matches across all competitions. This recent form of zero wins, one draw and four defeats included narrow losses such as the 4-3 defeat at Paris FC on 18 October and the 2-2 draw at Juventus on 22 October, where Mousa Al-Tamari and Boulaye Dia were on the scoresheet.
Their last win was on 25 October, a 3-0 home victory against Strasbourg featuring a Sebastian Szymański brace and a goal from Boulaye Dia. Sebastian Szymański scored his two goals from assists by Mahamadou Nagida and Mousa Al-Tamari, while Boulaye Dia opened the scoring from a Przemysław Frankowski pass. The match will be played behind closed doors or with crowd restrictions, a decision falling to the local prefectural authorities. For this rescheduled fixture, Stade Rennais FC will be able to call upon their top scorer this season, E. Lepaul, who has 7 goals in 7 appearances.
