Stade Rennais FC now has the exact dates and times for its next two Ligue 1 fixtures. The French Professional Football League (LFP) has published the schedules for the 5th and 6th matchdays.
The Rouge et Noir will travel to the Groupama Stadium to face Olympique Lyonnais on Saturday, September 19, 2025 at 8:45 PM. This significant match comes just three days after the kick-off of their Europa League campaign, on Wednesday, September 16 at 9:00 PM against Austrian side Sturm Graz. This tight schedule presents an early squad management test for Stade Rennais FC' coaching staff.
The sequence of matches in September and October is demanding. After the trip to Lyon, the Bretons will return to Roazhon Park on Sunday, October 11 at 5:15 PM to host AJ Auxerre. This league game itself is placed just four days before another key European appointment. Stade Rennais FC will welcome Greek side OFI Crete on Thursday, October 15 at 9:00 PM for their second Europa League group stage match.
This rapid alternation between domestic and continental competitions will require smart squad rotation. The technical staff will have to manage accumulated fatigue and injury risks while aiming for results in both competitions. The depth of the squad will be tested, especially for away trips like the one to Lyon. The scheduling for the match against Paris FC is also known, although its precise details are not yet public.
The fixture against Lyon is always a high-intensity duel in French football. Playing at the Groupama Stadium is a challenge for any team. For Stade Rennais FC, securing a good result there would send a strong signal early in the Ligue 1 season. The home match against Auxerre will be seen as an opportunity to collect points in front of their own fans during a busy period.
These two league games take on added dimension because they directly frame the start of the Europa League journey. Positive momentum in Ligue 1 could create a boost for the European adventure, and vice versa. The team's ability to maintain its level on two fronts will be closely watched from this September.
For supporters looking to plan their season, the complete schedule is available. The table below summarizes the upcoming key fixtures for Stade Rennais FC, including dates confirmed by the LFP and UEFA.
